01 — Context
Challenge
On-hand counts were a spreadsheet updated after the truck left. Pickers and purchasing did not trust the number.
02 — Method
Approach
Receiving posts quantity into a bin. Moves and cycle counts adjust that bin. Purchasing sees reorder points from the same rows. The client is unnamed.
Workflow
Receive
SKU, quantity, bin, and a reference. On-hand increases there.
Move
Quantity leaves one bin and enters another. The item total stays the same.
Count
A cycle count replaces the bin quantity and keeps the adjustment.
Outcomes
- A receipt is a transaction, not a cell edit
- Each quantity has a bin
- Reorder flags come from on-hand versus the point
