ZATCA
XML, stamp, QR, clearance and reporting
01 — Context
Challenge
Tax invoices were PDFs. Saudi buyers needed a ZATCA-compliant invoice: structured XML, a cryptographic stamp, a QR code, and the right clearance or reporting path.
02 — Method
Approach
The invoice is the record. On issue, the app builds UBL XML, applies the stamp and QR, and submits for clearance or reporting based on the invoice type. Staff see Draft, Reported, or Cleared. Sandbox first, then production credentials the client owns. The company is unnamed.
Workflow
Draft
Lines, VAT, and buyer details. Nothing is submitted yet.
Stamp and submit
XML, cryptographic stamp, and QR, then clearance or reporting.
Retry
A rejected payload stays on the invoice with the reason, ready to correct.
Outcomes
- Invoice list shows ZATCA status, not just paid or unpaid
- XML, QR, and stamp are produced with the invoice
- Failed submissions stay visible for a retry
